Brianna Miller, Class of 2021

Captain Daisy Fitzgerald McNamara

Brianna is a junior theatre major and creative writing minor from Gilbert, Arizona. She is so excited to share this show with thespians from around the world! After playing a sassy best friend in She Kills Monsters (Vera), a passive aggressive romantic in The Importance of Being Earnest (Cecily), and a witty love interest in Much Ado About Nothing (Beatrice), she looks forward to playing Daisy, a character who has a little bit of them all in her. She hopes you enjoy the show in all its quirky glory!

Nathan Sullivan, Class of 2021

First Officer Basil Underwood

Nathan is a junior English Major. His favorite roles include Earnest (The Importance of Being Earnest), Hamlet (Hamlet) and the cinnamon rolls from Cinnabon. Nathan is currently studying applied piano and is involved in Brimleys, as well as Dance Alloy. He is from Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jordan Paul Wolfe, Class of 2020

Jordan is excited to help bring Martin to the stage. He is a senior theatre major with a minor in computer science who grew up in Cambridge City, Indiana. Recent credits include Earlham College’s Much Ado About Nothing (Borachio), Nettle Creek Players’ Into the Woods (Steward), and Richmond Civic Theatre’s The Addams Family (Uncle Fester). Jordan would like to thank his family for all of their support.

Victor Baker, Class of 2021

Victor Baker is a third-year Peace and Global Studies/ Theatre Arts double major. You may remember them as the Great Mage Steve in She Kills Monsters. They are most excited for the chance to perform in an international fringe festival.

Grace Beavin, Class of 2019

Grace graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelors of Arts in Spanish and Hispanic Studies and Theatre Arts.  Most recently she played Jessica in Women Playing Hamlet for her Theatre Capstone Project and Leonata in Much Ado About Nothing at Earlham College. Her hobbies include returning to the same books, tv shows, movies, and music over and over again forever, apologizing too much, and being chronically late.  She is very glad you are here, and hopes you enjoy the show!

Chiara Bowker, Class of 2022

Chiara is a sophomore with a love for theatre and classics. She’s a hopeful lighting designer and can usually be found backstage. She acted in Much Ado About Nothing, and was the Assistant Lighting Designer for Women Playing Hamlet. She can’t wait for you to see this show (and will stun you if you don’t). 

Madison Dilk, Class of 2021

Madison is elated to be part of the premiere production of The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway. She is a junior Theatre Arts major from Greensburg, Indiana. Madison is a Taurus and her favorite roles at Earlham have been The Porter (Macbeth) and Donna John (Much Ado About Nothing). Enjoy the show!

Gabriel Lessing, Class of 2022

Gabe is ecstatic to be performing in his second Earlham show. Previously he has worked with the Earlham cast as Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing. In his free time, Gabe enjoys crab walking, being a total D&D nerd, and stumbling into good times.

Grace is excited to be a part of another Earlham theater project; her past participation has included an assorted semester or two of the 24 Hour Theater projects, Macbeth (Witch 2), The Globe (at Earlham and the Indianpolis Fringe), as well as various behind the scenes roles for Grounded, She Kills Monsters, and Much Ado About Nothing. Grace is a junior, French and English double major, a co-captain of the rugby team, and a relaxation connoisseur.

Spencer North, Class of 2021

The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway is Spencer’s second show as an actor at Earlham College, and they are excited and honored to again take the stage, for their second time participating in a Fringe Festival show after having starred in The Globe in 2018. Technical and production roles at the College have included Macbeth and The Importance of Being Earnest. They are a junior majoring in Ancient and Classical studies, hail from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and want everyone to know that Cicero is way less cool than people like to believe.

Ben Roussell, Class of 2022

Ben is a freshman from Louisville, Kentucky. This is his first Earlham Theatre Production after he completed the Foundations of Acting class, and this is his first full theatre production ever as he has just begun his acting career. He enjoys walking around campus and having intellectual conversations (as well as pointless ones) with his friends. In his free time, he enjoys a good game of billiards with a little bit of table tennis on the side, and loves chucking some disk when it’s not too windy. Other hobbies of his include listening to music, going to Walmart, playing video games, watching movies and TV shows, and attempting to do impressions and quotes from just about any movie or vine you have ever seen.

Laurence Ruberl, Class of 2020

Laurence is absolutely thrilled to be participating in The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway.  This is his first time acting in a production in 7 years, and his first time doing both acting and design work on a show.  He is a Senior Computer Science and Theatre Arts Double Major and spends his free time working on projects that blend his two disciplines, like SMHub, and fantasizing about working at NASA.  His previous technical work at Earlham includes Much Ado About Nothing (Sound Designer), Macbeth (Stage Manager), She Kills Monsters (Assistant Stage Manager), and Acid Dolphin Experiment (Stage Manager). Outside of theatre, he keeps himself very busy, being Business Manager for the SPS and COSMOS clubs.

Cameron is excited to be stepping up as a cast member for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He will be graduating in May 2020 with a theatre arts major.

Monica Wuertemberger, Class of 2022

Monica is a sophomore theatre major from Cincinnati, Ohio, and she is eager to bring The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway to the stage. On the Earlham stage, you might remember her as various roles from Women Playing Hamlet, Dogberry from Much Ado About Nothing and the Landlady from Long Ago and Far Away. She is an aficionado of film, theatre, and loves learning about stories and culture.

Tabitha Walters, Class of 2022

Tabitha is a sophomore Theatre/Public Policy major and Music minor. She is from Mishawaka, Indiana and is happy to be a part of Misadventrues of Martin Hathaway. She was Antonia in Much Ado About Nothing in the fall of 2018 and was many roles of Women Playing Hamlet in the spring of 2019. Tabitha is also a member of the Earlham Choir, Earlham Orchestra, and Brimleys (the acapella group).

Nicole is a senior Theatre Arts and Studio Photography double major with a passion for everything behind the scenes of the stage. For this play, she has led the design of the lights, worked towards the creation of our Ruhk, and given input into other areas of design. She also leads the marketing team and works with others to spread the word about the production. She has previously worked behind the scenes of many shows and is excited to show you this one!

Ari is a junior at Earlham College, and this is the third show that she has stage managed with this department. She would like to thank Mia Slayton, Sarah White, and Bella Lucas for all of their support and guidance. She hopes you enjoy the show.

Ruthie Reichman, Class of 2022

Ruthie is a second-year biology major with a minor in theatre from Los Angeles, California.  Ruthie mainly stage manages and makes costumes for various productions throughout her education thus far.  Her favorite shows she has been a part of were Les Miserable and Fiddler on the Roof.   Ruthie is very excited to be a part of this project and cannot wait to share it with audiences from around the world.

Alex cannot wait for you to see The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway. She is a junior who has always had a passion for theater. Alex’s favorite shows that she has worked on so far are Moby Dick: Rehearsed, The Laramie Project, and Urinetown. From Colorado, it’s unsurprising that her hobbies include archery, horseback riding, and reading books. Enjoy the Show!

Kathryn Clare (“Kate”) Glen, Author

Management Team: Company Manager

Kate is a graduate of Knox College, where she learned to temper her penchant for fantasy literature with a healthy dose of Regency and Lost Generation novels. While in this world, she recently completed her Masters of Arts in Arts Administration at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she also worked for Bloomington Playwrights’ Project’s Marketing and Development department. She currently serves as Outreach and Education Coordinator at Hayes Arboretum, all while running an independent bookstore with her much put-upon sister. The Misadventures of Martin Hathaway is her first novel.


Lynne Perkins Socey, Associate Professor

Associate Professor and Convener of the Earlham College Department of Theatre Arts, Lynne is also a member of Actors’ Equity Association and a certified instructor of Expressive Actor Training and mentor to the KCACTF Region 3 NPP Directors.  She has acted and/or directed for Indiana Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Asolo Repertory Theatre, Syracuse Stage, Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, Lilly Theatre at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, and the Human Race Theatre Company among others.  A founding member of the Richmond Shakespeare Festival, she is also a free-lance casting director and voice-over artist and served as Artistic Director of Picture This and Producer for Bridgework Touring Theatre.  Many thanks to Kate for letting us bring Misadventures to life on stage… we look forward to the next installment!

This is Mia’s sixth year teaching design in the Earlham Theatre Arts department. While at Earlham she has designed costumes for Much Ado About Nothing, The Importance of Being Earnest, She Kills Monsters, Time Flies, I and You , The Boy in Black, Tartuffe, and The Laramie Project. She has also designed costumes for The Richmond Shakespeare Festival, Richmond Civic Theatre, and film. Mia earned her MFA in costume design from the University of Iowa and a BA in Theatre Arts from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. Mia would like to thank Mark Slayton for all his love and support.

Sarah White, Visiting Professor

Design Team: Art Director and Technical Director

A “storyteller of all-mediums”, Sarah holds a BA in English and Theatre Studies (concentrations in Acting and Scenic Design) from Anderson University, and an MFA in Scenic Design from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She currently teaches Theatre Design and Technology at Earlham College. Her work as a Scenic Designer, Painter, and Properties Artisan has been seen regionally in the U.S. at companies such as Wisdom Tooth Theatre Project and Summit Performance (Indianapolis, IN); The Coterie Theatre, The Unicorn Theatre, and Heart of America Shakespeare Festival (Kansas City, MO); The Lied Center for Performing Arts (Lincoln, NE); and The Hollins Theatre Institute (Roanoke, VA).

As an actor, Sarah has performed for The Shawnee Summer Theatre of Greene County, Minnetrista Theatre Preserves and Hollins Theatre Institute, and is excited to return to the stage for the Edinburgh Fringe with her students in tow this time; she performed here as a high school student 15 years ago!
